July 12-13, 2018 Saint Andrews by the Sea
July 12, 2018 - We left Edinburgh and after an intricate dance around the city center, we drove across a beautiful new bridge to Saint Andrews about an hour and a half away.
We moved into our new digs on Windmil road and spent the afternoon simply relaxing.
July 13, 2018 - It is always so nice to not get in the car and drive. Our first walk this morning was to St. Andrews first golf course in the world and of course the
venue for the British Open, he Museum of Golf,
watching tee off on the first green and putting on the 18th, walking along the low tide beach and an grassy dunes,
finding three geocaches, then returing tour accommodations for lunch. We contemplated playing a round of golf but decided the fees together with paying 50 pounds per caddy, gratuity, and golf club rentals was a bit more than we were wanting to pay. So we just enjoyed the scenery, then returned to our "Scottish Country Home" and watched on TV #45's visit to England and the huge anti-Trump protests. Such an embarrassment here. We met some people from Glasgow who were here in Saint Andrews to escape the possibility of Trump trouble in their home town.
Our second walk of the day after lunch was through the old town shopping and pub area,
the church ruins,
the wharf,
castles ruins,
and Saint Andrews University.
Tomorrow we renew our car rental for another 30 days in Edinburgh, then we will return to walk the Saint Andrew's Course on Sunday.
