Looking Down from "Bert's Restaurant" to "Portwenn" Harbor - Private Holiday House |
July 1, 2018 - Hello Doc Martin, Are you in?
The sky was dripping this morning. The beautiful sunset the night before was not a good indicator of the grey, raining skies this morning. Undaunted, we donned our rain jackets and headed down the hill to Port Isaac. Sorry to say, we didn't see any of the Doc Martin characters, but it didn't dim the picturesque views or our affection for this quaint fishing village.
We have decided that even if Doc Martin and other movies had not been filmed here, Port Isaac is a lovely spot. We were fascinated with the history of the fishing village, the old buildings, the swing of the high and low tides, and the gull rookeries on the cliffs. We hiked along the moors, had cream tea for mid morning, Cornish pasties for lunch,
and crab salad for dinner at the old school house.
By 1:00 pm the sun was shining and most of the clouds had blown away. Enjoy the photos.

Our day in Port Isaac has been very enjoyable and it has come to an end. We hike back to our lodging
and the following morning say goodbye to our hosts, Carol and David before heading to Highclere Castle via the town of Cheddar (yes, where cheddar cheese was first made), and Wells the smallest City in England.
All is Well with the Worrall Travelers.
