July 8, 2018, Liverpool and Windermere
We left Bethesda, Wales and headed back into the UK early Sunday morning. The Beatle's Story is anticipating some super crowds today, so we wanted to get there before the crowds. We were there shortly after the opening.
Liverpool was quiet on a Sunday morning and we had no problem finding parking.

We spend 2 plus hours ahead of the crowds weaving our way through the museum. We enjoyed stepping back into a part of history that was so important to us.
Our favorite John Lennon Song |
When we finished with our throwback experience, we stepped out into sunshine and mobs of people enjoying the renewed dock area with shopping and fun attractions.
One of the old lock areas has been turned into a Dock Adventure, a floating obstacle par course. Participants dress in wet suits, life vests, and helmets, and have a limited time period (1 hour) to try to conquer the obstacles. Looks like a lot of fun.

We ate lunch at the School Bus Diner. It was very unique and we loved it!

We walked along the docks, enjoying the boats.

At the opposite end of the dock we found another bus diner. This one was a double decker with the eating area on top with a bar. The entire downstairs was a giant kitchen with a bigger menu including gourmet coffees and ice creams. We should have held out!

Liverpool was a very short stop and primarily to go to the Beatle's Story. We were in our car and driving to Windermere in the Lake District National Park. Windermere is the largest lake in England.
We are staying in Bed and Breakfast that we found on AirBnB. It's clean and convenient, but quite tiny.
After checking into our room in the late afternoon, we took a walk downtown for dinner. The sun was dropping in the sky but the "moons" were rising. This couple passed us by in their finest Sunday clothes.
Moons over Windermere
These are definitely the shortest shorts we've ever seen. Looks like a painful wedge! |
